Ministry Opp!

We currently have two ministry opportunites:
1. When the Glass family moves, (latest word is that it may be Oct. 15th) we will provide sandwiches for the moving crew.

2. Shea shared with us about a 10 year old boy who is going to have to have heart valve surgery. His mother is a single mom, and we are gathering non food items for the home to help alleviate the burden she will face being off work and at the hospital. Suggestions include laundry detergent, toilet tissue, paper towels, trash bags, etc. If you would like to help, pick up something extra the next time you are at Walmart. If we each grab something for the next two weeks, we should have quite a bounty to bless this family.

Class News

Sunday was a great day to be in the house of the Lord. Matt Fowler preached two great practical messages. If you missed them, you can listen online at www.gracelifeshoals.org.

In class we had Maleah home from Arkansas! We were missing a few of you, so please let me know if you have illness, etc. in the family. We want to be praying for you!

We have Visitation again this week. Let Cecilia know if you are definitely going to be there so we can organize our groups. cecilia.davis@lcschools.com

Victory!!

We went to Samaria...well, ok it was actually Sheffield. But it was out of our comfort zone. We had to knock on more than one door, and then walk a bit, but we ended up finding a lady and her two daughters, and we ENROLLED them! God has given us three new people to pray for and minister to.

I know that both Visitation groups had opportunities to invite people to come and hear about "The Wonder of It All." Please begin praying everyday for that day.

My memory verse this week (which I'm still working on) is Hebrews 4:2, and it talks about how the good news is preached, but it is of no profit unless it is united with faith. We know the good news of the Gospel will be presented on "The Wonder of It All" Sunday, now we must pray that God will grant the faith to believe it to some on that day. After all, as Ephesians 2:8-9 says, By grace you have been saved, through faith. And that (the faith) not of yourselves, but as a gift of God. As we invite and enroll, ask God to give the faith necessary for salvation.

Sorry it has taken me so long to get our blog up this week- too many spinning plates!

First of all, thank you all for being there on Sunday. Nine! is our record and I hope that we shatter that soon.

Visitation is Wednesday...maybe we won't run into Miss Cleo. But, if the Lord wills - we're willing!

Dying Gracefully...

My dear neighbor went home to be with the Lord today. I am privileged to have know this Christian gem. I am particularly pleased to have been able to watch someone die with grace and praising the Lord. My last visit with her was Sunday evening and she was ready to see Jesus.

Her family reports that just yesterday upon hearing of a family member's upcoming surgery, she immediately began to pray for him. Earlier in the day she and her sisters were heard singing around her deathbed, and before slipping in unconsciousness she was raising her hand in praise.

We sometimes lose sight of the fact that death is victory! The battle of the flesh is over for Mrs. Virginia. She has reached the upward prize! The grief is for her family and the emptiness they feel, but she is singing at the feet of Jesus!

Please continue to pray for her husband. He's the dearest man who loved her greatly. And most importantly appreciate the people around you for none of us know what tomorrow brings.

You never know.....

...what you are going to get into on Visitation! If you missed last night, you missed a verrrrry interesting visit! We will have to fill you in on Sunday. It was funny, yet frightening at the same time.

I forgot to mention that I have a long history of interesting Visitation exploits, it's too late now you are in and can't escape!

Thoughts to Ponder

Following our lesson on Sunday, we concluded there were several questions that we need to ask ourselves.

1. Do you ever rob God of glory when you take credit for your own good works, or are you like John the Baptist recognizing that our ministry and the ability to carry it out are God given?

2. John said, "He must increase, but I must decrease." How are you working to actively increase Christ and decrease self?

3. In what areas of your life do you need to die to yourself and your agenda so that Christ and His bride can flourish?

My memory verse this week is Ephesians 2:8-10 because it connects the grace gift of salvation to the grace gift of good works. Either way, no man (or woman) can boast.
